![]() The promotional team is really trying to sell this pairing. They were allowed (maybe even encouraged) to be flirty during their Happy Camp appearance, they’re flirty during their interviews (and there seems to be a new interview with them every few days), and then on Qi Xi, just two days before the last few episodes were released, they did a photoshoot shoot at Disneyland. At first I was surprised at how much the marketing team was trying to promote the Yang Yang/Dilireba pairing. It’s obvious that they get a kick out of revealing their relationship to their friends and colleagues whom have been clueless for years. They keep their relationship a secret, which also makes their relationship more fun. Both of them understand what it’s like to be called away for work, and so they don’t mind being apart or traveling long distances to see each other for just an hour. But at the same time, while their relationship is defined by their careers, their romance works because of it. They’ve basically been navigating a long distance relationship for the past 8-9 years, and they’re constantly working around the obstacles of their careers. Their relationship and their careers are so intertwined. It’s really inspiring (and elicits some career envy). ![]() Instead, this drama ends with Yu Tu and Jing Jing walking off into the night after he and his team just launched a rocket for their nation, a culmination of a decade’s worth of work, and a project he’s dedicated his youth to. I’m tired of dramas ending with the couple having a kid. I like that both Yu Tu and Jing Jing are career-driven and are in no-rush to start a family. But of course, we probably all won’t look as good as they do at 38, and plus Yang Yang and Dilireba are still only 29. Both Yu Tu and Jing Jing find breakthrough success in their careers at 38. On tiktok and twitter, a lot of young adults seem to think that 30 is old (we’re living in the 21st century for crying out loud, why is 30 still such a stigmatized age), but this drama romanticizes life after 30. Maybe I’m giving too much credit to an idol drama, but it’s nice to see that it’s trying to reduce some of the stigma around aging. Because of this depiction, the drama also feels like it’s targeting a more mature audience and not just teenage girls (although I could totally see myself still swooning over this drama if I watched this during high school or undergrad). ![]() You’re more mature, experienced, and you have a charm and aura that a 22-year old doesn’t have. You’re still young, but you’re not as young as someone who’s just graduated from college. The drama talks about what it’s like being in your late 20s and early 30s. In my previous review, I mentioned how I appreciated that Yang Yang and Dilireba are playing characters their age. It seems that the online game has brought them together once more so she asks him to become her gaming coach.-But the fact that the drama has these innuendos in the script is an indication that it’s a mature drama. Yu Tu has gone on to become an aerospace engineer who is also an expert gamer. He was a legend at their school, outstanding in everything that he does while Qiao Jingjing was just your average girl. ![]() Qiao Jingjing decides to use all of her free time towards improving her game and her decision leads her to reconnect with her old high school classmate Yu Tu whom she once had a crush on. Since her agent is worried that Qiao Jingijing might lose the endorsement, she has to join a gaming competition to prove her skills. Alas, one starts to crack when someone leaks a video of her playing an online game and being terrible at it which is completely inconsistent with the image she has created for herself as the game's ambassador. Being a well-known celebrity, Qiao Jingjing has to keep up appearances to maintain her multi-faceted image. As they grow closer, the two forge ahead to become each other's glory. A decision to start gaming in order to save her endorsement deal brings her face to face with an old crush. A story that follows aerospace engineer Yu Tu and the shining star Qiao Jingjing. ![]()
